Looking Closer Video Series

Thanks to everyone who subscribed on iTunes, we are now in the top 30 visual arts podcasts. Today we are posting Episode Two of “Looking Closer”—the weekly video cast where I take you for a closer look at my work. Episode Two introduces a piece that is a departure from my recognized work, a piquette assiette. Piquette assiette is a form of mosaic that is made from found and broken things. Monhegan Island Maine

Filed under: site news — deborah @ 2:19 pm

I’ll be leaving next week for my annual trip to the Coast of Maine. I can’t wait! I have a beautiful little series of prints from past trips to Monhegan Island–The Monhegan Chapel, The Island Inn, The Trailing Yew, The Barnacle, The Red House, The Monhegan Light House. There is also a print of the beautiful Portland Head Light–if you ever get to Maine, go see it. Mainers, a Mainiacs, or any of the above wannabee’s (like me!), take a look. Click here to browse all the Maine prints.

Looking Closer Video Series

Today we are launching a whole new idea—“Looking Closer”. I am very excited with this new way to show you what I do. Looking Closer is a weekly video cast where I talk about a piece of my artwork. You can also subscribe for free to the Looking Closer Podcast on iTunes. In each video I do my best to give you some insight into what a particular work of art means to me, and why I paint what I paint. They are short little slices of my life and work. I hope you will enjoy them.

Episode 1 - Torn Paper Mosaic

Click to watch Episode One, a video look at a whole new medium—torn paper mosaic. Torn paper mosaic is an evolution from collage which I have done a little of here and there. The torn paper pieces have no paint at all—only paper torn from magazine pages. And, they are deconstructed in a way I really find pleasing. Take a closer look and see what you think.
